Warndu's Australian Native Green Tree Ants are freeze dried. Green Ants (Gulguk) are tiny but mighty, packing a citrus punch – think lime with a hint of coriander seed – and a popping-candy-like effect when they hit your tongue. The acid in their little ends cuts through the fat in the cheese.
The Green Ants are wild caught, hand-sorted to remove leaf nest debris and silk, frozen and then freeze dried. The freeze-dried ants have a unique citrusy, tangy and slightly spicy flavour and are highly nutritious, containing ~% 50 crude protein.
Green Ants are found in tropical Australia. They are harvested and sourced ethically. They have a unique coriander seed and lemon flavouring which when added as a seasoning or garnish adds not just a pop of flavour but also leads to a great conversation too!
Green Tree Ants are high in protein, vitamin C, iron and amino acids. They also contain zinc, magnesium, and outstanding levels of vitamin B12. They are most certainly raised in an ethical and humane environment by experienced edible insect breeders.
Freeze-dried Green Tree Ants are easily rehydrated in warm water and quickly regain a similar appearance to freshly caught ants. The freeze-drying process removes ~ 98% of the water content of the ants and is ideal for retaining their flavour, nutritional content, and shape.
